Welcome to Streetprint Manila

Streetprint Manila is a research project that is part of a larger research endeavour called “Six Continents and Between”. Initiated by Prof. Gary Kelly of the University of Alberta, 6CAB seeks to investigate popular print culture across various geographical, sociocultural, and ethnolinguistic contexts. More specifically, it aims to look at reading patterns and preferences of the Filipino Everyman, or those whom we would largely consider members of the “masa” class.

A Day Among The Religious

I underestimated religion for so long and I never thought that religious texts would be so popular until now. As I left for home, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I had discovered something new and yet it has existed for so long. It has always been there. This is what the project has always been about: to capture what is popular not just for a young individual like me but popular for the country. And for a dominantly Catholic country, religious texts would be it.
